I was over the moon when Lucy & Simon asked me to be the photographer for their wedding at The Bell Inn in Ticehurst. Lucy was the makeup artist at the very first wedding I shot as a professional wedding photographer. She had just started out in her career as a make up artist in the wedding industry too, we’ve worked together many many times since. Take a look at her work, (lucy jane make up) it’s beautiful and I can’t recommend her enough. Lucy obviously gets to work with many wedding photographers so I was extremely honoured that she chose me to capture her wedding day.
The Bell Inn Wedding Photography
The Bell Inn is a venue I’d wanted to shoot at for some time, it is so cool. The day started as it does with so many of my weddings, Lucy doing the make up, but this time it was her own. Her hair was done by the amazing Vicki Lord. Lucy looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress designed Charlotte Wilden.
Weddings are extremely emotional days full of love, laughter, happiness and often an element of sadness as well. This day was no exception, Lucy’s dad was suffering from cancer and had been allowed out of hospital for the day to attend. Very sadly shortly after the wedding Lucy’s dad passed away. As a photographer it really brought it home to me what an honor it is to do my job. I get to capture one of the most important days of peoples lives for them. But not just for them but also the generations that follow. Last year Lucy and Simon became parents, so in years to come their beautiful daughter Ruby-Rose will look back on the wedding day of her parents and see how happy they were and also how proud her granddad was of her mum on her special day. I also became a father for the first time last year and more than ever this resonates with me. I can’t imagine there will be prouder moment in my life than walking my daughter down the aisle. (as long as I approve of her choice of husband).
Some kind words from Lucy below.
“I’m not really sure where to start when I come to my wedding photos. What they mean to me and just how important they are make them priceless. Our wedding photos capture all of the happiness and love that was there for us and our family, and most importantly they are some of the happiest lasting memories that I have of my late Dad, Derek.
Choosing the right photographer wasn’t an issue for us as I knew Ben was ‘the one’ as I loved his style of photography. He portfolio showcased so many beautiful moments, and that’s all we could have hoped for. We wanted our wedding to be photographed honestly and for them to tell a story. Not to be staged and not pretentious. We had some sad moments, and some really hard parts of our day but most importantly the bursting happiness and love we all felt – this is what I see when I look back at our beautiful wedding photos.”
Thank you Ben X
Below are a small selection of some of my favourite images from an amazing day and evening as this was one of the coolest wedding parties I’ve ever shot. Thank you to Annamarie for second shooting with me on the day.
If you’re getting married at The Bell Inn, then please do get in touch as I’d love to chat to you about capturing your day for you.
