Wanja is my cousin and I was over the moon when she asked me if I would be interested in coming over to Norway to photograph her wedding. I also thought it would be an excellent chance to get some skiing in, but unfortunately it looks like global warming is taking it’s toll everywhere. I guess at least I did not have to contend with the meters of snow that is normal for this time of the year. In fact it was blue skies and sunshine the whole day.
The morning started with the ladies getting ready in one room and the boys in another at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel with breathtaking views over the city of Oslo. Now, even I know that you should get excited over Jimmy Choo shoes and I’m sure sparkly ones are even better. Lets just say that the bride left it to the very last minute to put on her dress and the fact that the car missed the turning for the church made us slightly late for the ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony in a stunning church, the flower girls danced down the aisle followed by the bridesmaids in their hoods before Wanja was walked down by her father.
There was also a lot of singing, the groom after his speech, the flower girls and also the bridesmaids. Now I may not know a word of Norwegian but it was a truly beautiful and very emotional day. Thank you so much for inviting me over to be your photographer. X
P.S I tried some cross country skiing for the first time but it was like ice skating on ski’s so it was a very short experience after falling on my back side within minutes.
