On a rather chilly April’s day where there was even a scattering of snow I captured Rebecca & Neil’s wedding at Lympne Castle in Kent. The weather did not upset Rebecca, she saw it as a sign of good luck as it snowed on her grandparents wedding day and they’ve been happily married for many years. I love shooting at Lympne Castle and have many weddings there this year.
Rebecca & Neil’s wedding had a vintage tea party theme to the day and the castle looked fantastic decked out with bunting and vintage tea sets.
I’ve never shot a wedding with so much emotion. There were plenty of tears, many smiles a lot of laughter. It’s such a pleasure to be a documentary wedding photographer and to capture these emotions in my images.
A highlight of the day for me was their first dance; it was a mash up of many songs. It included Gangnam style, Thriller & Put a ring on it. They had choreographed the dance for each individual song and it was just brilliant. The whole wedding party were in raptures and it even shocked some guests, check out the reaction of the flower girl in the last photo on the post.
As usual, here’s a selection of my favourite images from a beautiful Lympne Castle wedding. Also some very kind words from the bride and groom.
“Like most couples we were a little nervous about finding the right photographer for our wedding, but as soon as we came across Ben at Lypmne Castles’ Wedding Fayre, we knew he was who we wanted to capture our big day. All of his work on the day picked up on the joy of the occasion, and he managed to take pictures without intruding or forcing the awkward photos you normally have at weddings! The few formal shots we asked for were done efficiently and came out brilliantly – and even better, were often followed by another wonderful picture as everyone moved out of the group pose. Ben captured the mood of the day and the characters of our guests perfectly, and friends, as well as all our families, and we couldn’t be happier with our wonderful wedding photos. We are quite simply thrilled with his work and would recommend Ben time and time again.”
