The Barnyard Gore Farm, Kent – Wedding photography
On Saturday 11th April 2015, I had the very great privilege of photographing the wedding of Alex Hoile and Peter McVey at Rochester Cathedral and The Barnyard at Gore Farm in Upchurch, Kent.
When the wedding party and guests woke on that Saturday morning, I’m sure they were all a bit nervous about the weather. Heavy rain lashed down outside and hopes of sunshine were fading. Still, I’m sure most bride and grooms who marry in the UK would agree that the one thing you can rely on for your wedding day is the unreliability of the British weather.
Thankfully, fortune turned in Alex and Peter’s favour and, once the clouds cleared, the rest of the day remained bright and sunny, much like the atmosphere as Alex and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day.
While I took documentary style photographs of the girls getting ready, my good friend and fellow wedding photographer, Jamie, covered the boys who looked incredibly dapper in their wedding attire with calla lily buttonholes.
Alex and Peter’s wedding took place at the stunning and historic Rochester Cathedral. It was a fantastic experience for Jamie and me to shoot there. Having a second photographer meant that we were able to create a wider choice of images for the bride and groom to preserve their memories of their wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, we took some group shots outside the cathedral, as well as some gorgeous pictures of the bride and groom.
It was then time to head to The Barnyard Gore Farm. Alex and Peter arrived at the reception venue in style thanks to their vintage MG wedding car.
The Barnyard Gore Farm is a picturesque wedding and wedding reception venue set in 150 acres of orchards, paddocks and woodland. The reception took place in a beautiful marquee, which was bathed in natural light and provided a spellbinding backdrop for the wedding dinner, speeches and dancing late into the night.
The Barnyard Gore Farm has a lovely romantic feel and I was able to take some beautiful pictures of Alex and Peter against the setting sun.
I had such fun capturing Alex and Peter’s wedding day. The lovely bride and groom were up for lots of photos and, with Rochester Cathedral and The Barnyard Gore Farm as the settings, as well as such stunning, joyful smiles to capture, I had a ball.
Some very kind words from Alex & Peter.
“We had the most amazing day that was everything we hoped it would be and more. Ben was amazing, capturing all the key moments without us really noticing he was there. I think I only noticed him about 5 times during the entire day (obviously once we left my parents house!) One of the things that we liked about the package Ben offered was that there was no time limit – we wanted someone who would stay and capture some of the party as well, and we have some wonderful picures of the entire day. We are so pleased with our photographs and all our friends have commented on how good they are; one has even enquired about booking Ben for another event! Thank you so much!”
