Now, if I were to ever get married again (not that I’m planning to) I would love a wedding just like Liza and Dave’s last Friday. I first met Dave back in the year 2000 when we worked together in Sydney. We became great friends and have stayed in touch ever since. Meeting up regularly and even traveling together for a while in South East Asia. We spent one fantastic afternoon floating down a river in Laos in giant inner tubes drinking beer Lao.
Liza and Dave met in Mozambique while she was traveling overland from Cairo to Cape Town; by all accounts it was love at first sight. Liza works as a teacher and for the past few years they have been living in Cairo where she has been teaching at an international school.
We met up in London a few months ago at the Dukes Head in Putney (the venue for their ceremony) for a pint and a chat about the day. I knew then it was going to be fantastic. But with all the rain we’ve been having and the fact their wedding was on Friday the 13th it did not bode well for the plans they had for their big day. But apart from a few drops of rain it was just perfect, so after the ceremony some nibbles and a few drinks everyone changed from their ‘posh’ shoes to more suitable ones for a walk along the Thames path to The Victoria pub in Richmond for the reception with a stop on route for a champagne picnic.
I have never seen a groom smile so much and look as happy as Dave did all day, it was such a fun filled day enjoyed by everyone. Helped along I’m sure buy the drinking game ” flip cup ”. The first dance was the infamous (I’ve had) the time of my life from Dirty Dancing and there was an attempt at that lift!!!
I hope you enjoy the photos, because I certainly enjoyed taking them. I wish you guys all the best for your future together and your next adventure in the Philippines. x
