I hadn’t spoken to Gemma since our school days, scarily that is over 20 years ago now. But, thanks to the wonderful world of Facebook we got back in touch. Like me Gemma also works in the wedding industry as a caterer, she’s listed under “Ben’s Friends” on my website so be sure to check her website if you have any catering needs. Thankfully she didn’t do the catering on her own wedding day, that would have been taking the hands on approach to the max. She did however make the desserts and if they are anything to go by I can highly recommend her. She has also promised to cook me dinner when we choose the images for her album, so I’ll let you know how it goes.
It was really lovely to be part of Gemma and James’s big day and I just love going back to beautiful Suffolk where I grew up. We spent much of the morning catching up on the last 20 years and sharing stories about our old school friends lives now, whilst her hair and makeup were being done.
The theme of food was prevalent throughout the day and I have to say that she had one of the most unique wedding bouquets I’ve ever seen by Susan Jane May. I loved it, it very aptly combined cabbage, chilli’s and herbs with the flowers.
The ceremony took place at the gorgeous Priory Hall in Hadleigh. It was then a short drive to the reception where they had a marquee in their own garden. We made a few stops on route as the Suffolk countryside made for the perfect backdrop to the bridal portrait shoot. Luckily the April showers held off just long enough.
So much fun was had by all and this went up another gear when the evening’s entertainment started. I want to get married again just to have this band, as I’m a huge fan of 80’s music. Fake Tan where just amazing please please check them out if your looking for a band for your wedding. I was gutted I had to drive home that evening, I wish I could have stayed and put my cameras down.
I wish you both all the happiness in the world, they say the way to a man’s heart is through his belly so I’m sure you’ll be fine. I look forward to catching up soon.
xx
