The Grand Hotel, Brighton, is an iconic building and an amazing wedding venue. Its Victorian elegance promises sophistication and refinement from the outset, while Brighton’s pebbled sea front opposite beckons the hotel’s guests to tread the promenade and soak up the seaside atmosphere. It’s a venue that manages to stay current and yet echoes with memories of the past.
You can imagine my delight when Gill and Barney told me that they were planning to get married and host their wedding reception at The Grand Hotel.
Gill and Barney’s wedding took place on Saturday 18th October 2014. The day dawned surprisingly warm and sunny for an October day on the South Coast.
The bride and groom, and their respective wedding parties, got ready at the hotel. My day started with capturing these preparations and soaking up the atmosphere of nervous excitement.
After a lovely, intimate ceremony, we all headed on foot over the road to the promenade for drinks at a bar on the beach. This gave me the opportunity to take some gorgeous family portraits and couple shots on the beach. The weather held but some autumn clouds rolled in to add a sense of drama and magnitude to the occasion.
The reception took place back at The Grand Hotel, where the bride and a friend played the piano together to all the guests before the meal. Once the mouth-watering food had been eaten and the speeches given, Gill and Barney took to the dance floor for their amazing choreographed first dance. The rest of the guests were soon on the dance floor, being entertained by a great band.
The Grand Hotel, Brighton, certainly stands out as a wedding ceremony and reception venue, and was a wedding photographer’s dream.
Some very kind word’s from the bride and groom.
Thank you for being so professional and yet discreet on the day. I’ve had so many of our friends and family comment that you weren’t one of those ‘in your face’ photographers and that the photos didn’t take us away for too long which is exactly what we wanted. You did a perfect job!
